Hi,
To change the effect, please edit mod_megafeaturedarticleshow/tmpl/default.php and edit this code:
var slideshow = j('#featuredarticleshow_<?php echo $rid; ?>')
 .after('<div id="slidenav">')
 .cycle({ 
	 fx:     'scrollRight', 
	 speed:  '300', 
	 timeout: 4000, 
	 pager:  '#slidenav' 
 });
change the value of attribute 'fx' will change the effect. See the name of effects here
