Warnings:Strict standards ... and Minifrontpage news not beeing displayed was created by Erick Gersdorf
Problem solved.
The reason why the news were not being displayed was the following minifrontpage parameter.
Period of Novelty (Days): changed the value from 1200 to 12000
That did the trick.
